Different Proper Age for Marriage

A couple of years ago, a fortune teller told me: “You would have your Mr. Right soon, and he would be a tall guy.” I looked around, from the east to the west, searching for the right man in my destiny. However, either he was a no-show or just went by without my notice; Mr. Right did not show up at all. At my 34 birthday party, I made a wish that I would get married before 40. After making that wish I felt safe and relax, since there were still 6 years to go, no rush at all! Even so, time just went by in the blink of an eye. Nowadays, I think I should extend my wish expiry up to 45.

Then I started thinking what the proper age for marriage is. How long shall I date with someone till finally I could settle down? Hubert once told me that he attended a wedding in Hyatt Taipei, the bride and the groom, they met on internet, guess what? Only 10 hours later, they decided to get married. Can you imagine that? Do you know politician, 張富美 or movie star, 林青霞, they both got married after 40 and had babies at 48. The so-called semiconductor godfather半導體教父, 張忠謀marry his wife when she was 57. It seems that people do not follow the old tradition anymore, they just follow their hearts, no more age limits. Therefore, from now on, whenever you meet a middle age lady like me, never, ever ask “how old are your children?"

One of my male friends, he is 40 plus, and looks forward to his marriage. After 100 times of blind dates, he did not give up searching his bride. He said" I feel my proper timing of marriage is not yet coming." I do admire his courage and his wisdom, no matter how much pressure he has, he takes it easy to find the soul mate. I used to think that a over 40-year-old single man possibly has some problems in his mind or is he a picky weirdo? But it finally proves that he is positive to make his life better and believe himself to wait for his dream to come true. He is extremely romantic!

People worry if single people might feel lonely some time, my opinion is “Even you are alone, never feel lonely.” “No man is an island”, it means no one is really alone, people always influence others no matter you know or not. Being single, you can give love to either your family or friends. At these months, I spent plenty of time with my niece, a 13-year-old girl and she was difficult to get along with her classmates, teachers and parents. Fortunately, now she has got out of bad mood and I was deeply touched by her grateful letter, she mentioned she would behave well and be diligent in her lessons for the love I gave her. So, without time-consuming house works, we have more time to contribute ourselves to relatives, groups or even society. Just make sure to be a helpful and happy single person.

To sum up, destiny tricks people in different ways. Single people should have no age pressure, believe God (God, don’t forget me!) and believe self to enjoy the benefits of freedom and make life valuable. As the same time, never, ever give up getting the future happiness, therefore, we should let others know us, “ I am single”. Different age of women have different charms and glamour, do you agree that? Do not forget to get ready for meeting Mr. Right at any time. When he shows up, that will be my proper time for marriage.
