What  shines  in  my  life  ?     

Has anyone heard about the Soroptimist ? Let me tell you about this Organization in brief . Founded in 1921, Soroptimist is an international organization like the Toastmaster but only for business and professional women . Men ? No way .Because the name , Soroptimist ,means “ best for women “ . The mission is improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world . We have almost 100,000 members in about 120 countries . This year I was given the opportunity to represent Taiwan at an international convention for Soroptimist Organization . In order to, fulfill this opportunity I need to answer questions and participate in an interview process . I first qualified to represent our local club . Next I was chosen as a regional representative .Then I was chosen to be the national representative . The following speech is my thank you presentation to the Soroptimist organization for being given such a glory .

    First thank you to every judge for allowing me the opportunity to receive this honor to represent Taiwan in Philadelphia and join other foreign leaders .

    On one hand I feel the degree of panic as there has not been a predecessor before to tell me all about the procedures and protocols . I am not sure what kind of situation I will face or the many things that will happen .I remember these feelings are similar to going on a blind date with my husband before . There are many questions in my mind such as should I meet him or run away immediately ？ On the other hand ， I feel so privilege and lucky to have the chance to accept the Leader’s training and meet Soroptimist members from many countries . That’s for sure and I guarantee I would do my best to complete the mission of accepting the Leader’s training .

I am excited to do the best preparation that I can & enhance my English ability so that there will be no obstacles in my communication .I will promote Taiwan’s beauty and extend an invitation for everyone to join the 40^th Biennial Convention 2008  in Taipei ,Taiwan .

    I will share what we have done about the big earthquake on 9-21 ,1999 . Aid was provided in the form of cash donations , volunteer time and services .We also helped to work against juvenile prostitution and offered our assistance .

     Awhile ago the National Branch Clubs along with the Headquarters started the assignment of pushing against domestic violence . At the same time we promoted the Woman and Child protection telephone help line number 113 .This activity was promoted through the media at 1:13  in the afternoon on the television and in the newspapers to make people aware . So I am proud to be a Soroptimist . I will cherish the training and work hard to do the best diplomatic job that I can . I believe that I will do a good job and not disappoint anyone . I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with sister members .

You know what ? Today I stand here with the same feeling as I said that thank you to Soroptimist because Toastmaster also gives me such a great the opportunity to polish my public speaking skills and conquer my stage fright . Most importantly both clubs lit up my life .
