A while back I heard a speech that was so encouraging and so refreshing. I think it is worth sharing with all of you. And I entitle it ¡§Diet for the mind¡¨ Many people now realize that when their bodies are full of harmful toxins that would cause them to feel bad. Chemicals in the food can be harmful. Bacteria can build up even pesticide can get into our system. Most experts would recommend that we put ourselves on a strict food schedule, when we eat a certain food and stay away from everything harmful, overtime we can rid ourselves of those toxins, and begin to feel much better. In the same way, there are all kinds of toxins that can build up in our minds. When we go around dwelling on the wrong thoughts, thinking about what we can¡¦t do, how some body hurt us, or how we will never get ahead. Those thoughts are toxic thoughts and toxic thoughts left alone become like toxic waste it would eventually contaminate our whole life and become part of who we are. Some of us today don¡¦t have the joy we should. It is because we are not eating a health diet. I am not talking about physically, I am talking about mentally. We are eating too much junk food. Junk food is like toxic thoughts it would pollute our minds. Things like I am just average, I have already reached my limits, I have missed so many good opportunities. No. We need to get back on our diet. Make sure those toxic thoughts are not part of our eating program. Every morning when we get up, we can say under our breath, this is going to be a great day. I know I am in power to overcome every obstacle, I have the strength to overlook every offense and I have the brave to rise above every disappointment. Even things don¡¦t go my way, I am making a decision right now that I am going to be happy and enjoy this day. Or somebody rude us, somebody does us wrong, we just learn to say ¡§No, I am not getting upset, I have made my mind to stay in peace.¡¨ But so often we try to have a good attitude and try to have a good image, but we feel like constantly struggling. We want to break the addiction but the thought keeps telling us that you are a alcoholic just like your father. We want to make our marriage work, but we hear a thought saying you probably divorce just like your parents. We want to step out in faith and take the promotion, but something says you are not able to. You remember what your high school counselor told you. Those lines have been affecting our thinking. Could it be we just deal with the surface and the root cause is that our thinking is affected in some area? The way we get rid of it is to keep continuing and have good thoughts playing. Just image with me, that I am holding a glass of dirty water in my hand filled with all kinds of sands and dirt. But if I continue to pour good clean water in this glass, and just let it overflow and overflow, eventually all the dirty water would be gone. And the water will become perfectly clear. I didn¡¦t really have to try to get rid of the dirty water, I just have to keep putting the right things eventually the wrong things will be gone. It¡¦s the same principle in our thinking. If we keep habits putting in the right things, thoughts of faith, thoughts of victory, encouraging thoughts, well-able thoughts, before long our mind is going to be transformed. It¡¦s like Popeye eats a bonus of spinach you will find your self positive, hopeful, strong and courageous. ¡@ |
